Building Musicians. Building Leaders. Building Community.
The North Shore Youth Music Association creates opportunities for middle and high school musicians to perform, collaborate, and lead through live music experiences that strengthen our communities.
Our biggest event of the year! Featuring 20+ student acts across two stages, food vendors, community booths, and a headlining performance by our alumni showcase band. A true North Shore tradition.
The North Shore Youth Music Association believes music has the power to build confidence, foster leadership, strengthen friendships, and bring communities together.
Our events are designed and led with youth involvement at every level—from performance and production to marketing, fundraising, and community outreach. Students don't just play music. They help create experiences that inspire others.
"Playing at NSYMA events completely changed how I see myself as a musician and as a leader. I learned to manage a stage crew, work with sponsors, and perform for hundreds of people—all before I turned 17."
Participation in NSYMA builds skills that last a lifetime—far beyond any single performance.
Stepping on stage in front of a live audience builds the kind of self-assurance that transfers to classrooms, job interviews, and life decisions.
Student musicians coordinate rehearsals, guide bandmates, and make real-time decisions under pressure—skills that define effective leaders.
Playing in an ensemble means listening as much as performing. Students learn to support others, synchronize, and create something greater than any individual part.
Every performance is a communication exercise. Students develop presence, articulation, and the ability to hold a room—essential in every career path.
From original compositions to event production, NSYMA students learn to solve problems imaginatively and express ideas in ways that move people.
Our events raise funds, celebrate local culture, and build bridges across generations. Every performance is an act of community investment.
There's a place for everyone at NSYMA—whether you're on stage, behind the scenes, or in the crowd.
Middle and high school musicians can audition for our events. Solo artists, bands, jazz ensembles, and singer-songwriters all welcome.
